A number of donations to the local library and museum have recently been received. At the meeting of the Carnegie Institute on Friday evening, a vote of thanks was 4 accorded the following persons.—Mr. Thomas Pen warden (Oakura), copper fish-hooks, and a fishing spreader used by the Maoris and four stone adzes, one of which is a splendid specimen, and is deposited on loan; Mr. F. Stephenson Smith (Blenheim), two ancient rifles of the Maori War period; Mr. R. Cock (Brougham Street) a pom-pom shell from the South African War, 1899-1902; Mrs. Simmonds (Morley Street), deer antlers; Mr. S. Percy Smith (MataiMoana), land shells from Niue Island; Hon. T. Kelly (Buller Street), five pamphlets; Mr. L. B. Webster (Devon Street), Cowley’s works, published in the ‘.gefti: 1700
