MAJORITY AGAINST THE SOVIET. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 19, 5.5 p.m. Washington, Feb. 18. Mr. Norman H. Davis, Under-Secre-tary of State, informed the House Foreign Affairs Committee that twotlyrds of the people of Russia do not recognise the Soviet Government, and if the United States recognises the Soviet such action would arouse ment among the mass of Russian people, who were grateful to the United States for the position it had taken up. He declared that the United States need not fear losing Russian trade when the country was stabilized.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
