While in the Bay of Plenty with the Parlianjentaiy party," Mr. Lyshar inquired into the cattle tick position, and as a result he has despatched a telegram to Air. Noswdrthy (Minister foU Agriculture) stating that three months ago ticks were discovered on two farms in Opotiki by the Government inspector* and Air. Lysnar understands that nothing has been done to declare Opotik| an infested area. He protests strongly. on behalf of Gisborne, against the inactivity of the Stock Department, and asks to have the Opotiki district declared an infested area mA carrier diprf erected. He also considers that £l5O as subsidy from the Government towards the cost of dips is inadequate, and that the Government should pay the total cost and put an expert in charge to supervise dipping, the farmers finding; other labor, and, if necessary, to reasonable charges.
