TEAM FOR ENGLAND. FAREWELL AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night There was a large gathering of bowlers at the wharf to-night to say au revolt to the bowling team, which left for Sydney, en route to the Old Country. The secretary of the Dominion Bowling Association (Mr. S. H. Underwood) received a telegram from the Prime Minister expressing regret that as he was on the West Coast he was unable to take part in the farewell of the touring bowlers. Mr. Massey wished them bon voyage, and expressed his assurance that they would worthily uphold the reputation of New Zealand at the heart of the Empire. YESTERDAY’S MATCHES. WEST END A v. WEST END B. Six rinks from the Stratford Club visited Hawera yesterday, where they suffered defeat in the banner competition by 170 points to 126. On arrival at the Hawera green the Stratford players were welcomed by Mr. Foy, president of the Hawera Club, and Mr. J. S. Lyons, president of the Stratford Club, replied on behalf of the visitors.
