CABLES HELD UP.

: MNDLINES DOWN IN CANADA. FORST STORM FOR FORTY YEARS. The Pacific Cable Board reports: “The Canadian landlines are interrupted owing to a blizzard and the worst storm experienced for forty years on the prairies. It is expected traffic to and from the United Kingdom will suffer delay.” A later message from the Post Office stated: “The Pacific Board advise that communication between Bamfield and Halifax is restored, and the transmission of traffic for the United Kingdom is now normal.”

The break accounts for an almost complete absence of foreign news this morning. After 5 p.m. yesterday there was a complete absence of Press cables from abroad until one short message Fas received just before midnight.
