TAP AN AND THE SOVIET. RUMORS OF WAR. Tokio, Jan 29. Special messages from Vladivostock state that General Takayanagi has reported that the Japanese Staff has received much information indicating that Soviet Russia was preparing for a Japanese war. “But Ido not believe them,” says the general, "and in any case we are ready.” There are many Vladivostock rumors that the reactionaries are preparing a coup, and the militia is searching pedestrians, seeking firearms. The military is controlling all train movements to Harbin, and refuses to accept mail for Harbin. General Kappel’s troops at Nikolsk are carrying out their own executions, and are resisting the militia’s investigations of their actions. —Sydney Sun.
