SLAUGHTERMEN GO-SLOW.
BRIEF DISPUTE AT BURNSIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Assoclr.Hon Dunedin, Last Night. What threatened to be serious trouble among the slaughtermen at Burnside today was fortunately ended at 4 p.m. and a satisfactory agreement was reached. Objection was taken to the employment on the killing board of a man who was termed a “free laborer,” and his dismissal was demanded, and when the management positively refused to accede to the request some of the men adopted a “go slow” policy,, killing only two sheep an hour instead of the usual ten. The company began to put them off, and ultimately the union decided to waive its objection to the employment of this man and a complete settlement was reached.
