PLUNKET SOCIETY.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. q?he monthly meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Plunket Society was held on Monday. Present: Mesdames Burgess (in the chair), N. King, W. Ambury, V. Duff, T. Shaw, Jenkin, and the ton, secretary (Mrs. Stuart Russell). Apologies were received from several members who were either away or could not attend on account of ill health: Car and Jtnaroe reports were read, and also the nurses report as follows: —Number of babies on the list January, 1921, 121, December, 1920, 115; number of new babies on the list 12 (10); breast fed 2 (4), supplemented 8 (4), artificially fed 2 (2) ; visits paid to homes, old cases, 126 (121) ; visits paid to homes, new cases, 40 (26) ; visits received at office, adults, 227 (172) ; visits received at office, babies, 185 (137) : advice to expectant mothers, 6 (3) ; milk made in homes 8 (6). One demonstration- of making humanised milk had jbeen given in December and January. Nurse Petersen then gave a detailed report of her work since she started duty here in August, and as this report will necessitate the decision of the committee with regal’d to many points in connection with the Plunket work here, it was left over for discussion at the next committee meeting, which will be held on March 14. Accounts were passed for payment, and the secretary was instructed to forward a cheque to the Dunedin Central Council for the sum of £l4, this being a share of the council’s expenses for the years 1919 and 1920. The secretary read a letter from the Central Council stating that probably the society s apportionment of expenses will be larger for the current year owing to increased costs and the expenses attendant upon the last conference, etc., but that the committee will be informed about the matter after the close of the financial year, which ends on March 31. The committee acknowledge with thanks the following subscriptions:—Mrs. Honan ss, Mrs. Grant ss, Mrs. Morrison ss, Sympathiser £5, Mrs. Whyte 10s, Mrs. Craig £l, Mrs. Haine 15s. The resignations of Mrs. Bayliss and Mrs. G. King were accepted with regret.
