Cable Assn;; LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPOKT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy. Ltd., Stratford report as follows : On Friday the 11th inst., we held our Annual Steep Fair at Matau to a full yarding of both sheep and cattle. There was also a large attendance of farmers present. Sheep yarded were in good condition, the lambs being a good average lot. Ewes were not brought forward in such numbers as at. previous fairs. All the cattle pens were full, but competition was dull, for the sheep com petition was good, and vendors meeting the market, practically all the sheep yarded were sold : Prices: Sheep. Forward lambs 13s 6C to 13s lOd, store lambs 9s lid to Ils, poorer suits 7s 6d to 9s, culls 3s 9d to 5s 2-toiih wethers 17s 2d it Its 9d, 2- tooth ■ ewes 15s lo 15s 6d, f.f.m. ewes 16s .to 1.53 2d, f.m. ewes 12s 3d to 13s 4d, cull ewes 4s 31 to ss. Cattle: 18-month heifers £4 10s, 2%-year-steers £5 16s to £6 10s, 3%-year steers £B, 2%-year heifers r.b.w. £6 10s.
