The Federal Cabinet has issued a commission to Mr. W. McFarlane, formerly Chief Stipendiary Magistrate, to inquire into the allegations of cargo pilfering. SHIPPING DEVELOPMENTS. Sydney, Feb. 14. Mr. Walsh, secretary of the Seamen’s Union, has officially announced that the seamen have declined to give the assurances sought, but are prepared to resume on the conditions prevailing prior to the stewards’ strike.
