Tin. —Firm on news that the Malayan Government has reduced its pegged price to 100 dollars per pikul. This means that further supplies of Straits tin will not be available here under £205 per ton lauded terms. NEWTON KING LTD., REPORTS. At Urenui on Feb. 7 1921, the yarding was small and prices remained on a par with recent sales. Forward wethers 17s 9d, store cows £2 ss, £2 15s, £3 16s; better sorts £4 10s, £6, £6 8s; cows and calves £5, £8 10s; weaner heifers £l, £2; 15-month heifers £3, £3 16s; steers £5 IGs; draught gelding £5O. At Stratford on Sth inst., a small offering was totally cleared at the hammer. Lambs Ils; ewes 8s; store cows £3, £4 10s, £5; fat do £B, £8 12s 6d; in calf heifers £5 10s, £6, £6 ss; springing heifers £9 10s; Shorthorn bull £3 2s 6d. At Inglewood on 9th inst. we .report a heavy yarding of cattle and good one of sheep. The demand for the latter class was of a dragging tendency, but the whole offering was eventually cleared at the hammer, prices showing little movement. Young steers and grown bullocks comprised the bulk of the cattle offering, the former being practically neglected whilst the latter in the cases of pens showing plenty of condition and age met with fair enquiry. Store cows, weaners, etc. realised present ruling rates. Lambs 7s 6d, 9s, 9s 3d; forward do 13s 2d, 15s; fat lambs 235; 2-tooth wethers 15s 6d; 4and G-tooth do 16s lid; mixed aged ewes 7s lOd, Ils 8d; fat ewes 21s; empty heifers £3 12s 6d, £4 Ils; store cows aged and in light condition £2 12s 6d, £3 15s; better sorts £4 15s/ £5, £5 10s; fat cows £7 12s 6d; 4-year bullocks £8 10s, £9; boner bulls £3 7s Gd to £4 7s 6d.
At Uruti Sale and Sheep Fair on 11th Inst, we report a full yarding of sheep of good quality throughout. Buyers attended in strong numbers, and a good clearance was nude, prices being equal to those ruling elsewhere, with the exception of lambs which were a shade easier. Fatteners operated freely c-n forward conditioned sheep, and this class and the good framed breeding ewe on the day were mostly in demand. There was a good offering of cattle, but enquiry almost life’ess. Lambs 8s to 12s: 2-tooth ewes 15s 3d, 4-6-tooth do 14s 6d, 15s 9d, 16s; f.f.m. ewes 13s lOd, 14s 8d; f. and f.m. ewes 9s 2d, 9s 6d; failing mouth do 6s, ss; fat and forward ewes 15s lOd, 16s Id, 16s 7d; 2-tooth wethers 15s Id, 16s, 16s 8d; 4-tooth do 16s 6d, 17s; f.f.m. wethers 17s 3d; one shear Romney flock rams 2 gns, 2%gns; mixed weaner steers and heifers 30s; 18-month steers £2 15s, £3 Is, £3 6s; 2-year do £3 17s, £4 ss; boner bulls £3 10s, £4 10s.
FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORTS. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand Ltd., market report, week ending February 12, 1921: At Okaiawa on Monday we had a. small yarding, prices were as follows: —export bulls to £6, good cows to £B, others £3 to £G. At Eltham on Wednesday owing to the race meeting at Hawera there was a small yarding. Good lambs made to 15s, bulls and cows sold at late rates. On Friday at Hawera we had a fair entry of sheep and cattle, bidding was dull and dragging but the majority of that entry found fresh owners. W. F. rape lambs to 15s 6d, medium lambs to Ils, others to Bs, export bulls £8 to £6, best cows £8 Bs, to £8 12s 6d, others £2 to £6, mixed weaner helffers to £1 15s, Jersey ditto to £4 11s. On the same day at Waverley we had a good entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. There was a good attendance of the public, but few were buyers, however, although prices were low, vendors in the most cases were prepared to sell, and practically everything was sold, the following were some of the sales: —166 4-tooth wethers 10s 6d, 300 4-year-old wethers 19s Id, 114 5-year-old ewes 16s 3d, 64 b.f. lambs 14s, pen ditto 13s, small lambs 5s to Bs, export bulls to £5 10s, Jersey empty heifers £6. •
