HOLIDAYS FOR NURSES.
AN INCREASE PROPOSE?/ TARANAKI’S DECISION TO-MORROW The question of more holidays for hospital nurses is arousing considerable discussion just now, and the question will come up for consideration at to-morrow’s meeting of the Taranaki Hospital Board. A summary of reph’es received from hospital boards throughout New Zealand relative to the matter has been received by the secretary from the Di-rector-General of Hospitals, and it will )je before to-morrow’s meeting for consideration The summary shows that 25 boards favored the proposal for a clear day off duty each month, 4 were against it. and 10 expressed no opinion. Twenty-seven boards favored 21 days holiday per annum, none were against it, and 10 expressed no opinion. The director stated that the Minister wished the proposals to be given effect to at once, and wished the boards to consider the question of providing extra accommodation. The matter was to have been considered at the last meeting of the Taranaki Board, but was deferred on account of the absence of one member, so that the first official expression of opinion, so far as this board is concerned, will be given to-morrow.
