NEW MILITARY DISTRICTS.

AND COMMANDING OFFICERS. Regulations constituting three instead of four military districts in the Dominion were gazetted on Thursday. The following is the description of the three districts:— Northern Military District, comprising the land district of Auckland; headquarters Auckland. Central Military District, comprising the land districts of Wellington, Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay; headquarters, Palmerston North. Southern Military District, comprising the land districts of Canterbury, Nelson, Westland, Marlborough, Otago and Southland; headquarters, Christchurch. Each military district may be subdivided for administrative purposes under such designations and with such boundaries as the commandant may from time to time direct. Lieut-Colonel (temporary Colonel) Harry Rowland Potter, C.M.G., New Zealand Staff Corps, is appointed temporarily to command the Northern military district; Colonel Charles William Melvill C. 8., C.’M.G., D. 5.0., New Zealand Staff Corps, to command the Central military district; and Colonel Robert Young, C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., New Zealand Staff Corps, to command the Southern military district.
