GENERAL MEETING. A general meeting of members of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held on Saturday, when Mr. W. B. Grant (president) presided over an attendance of about 20 members. The new rules drafted for the working of the society were read, and, subject to slight amendment, were passed. GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the general committee was held subsequently, Mr. W. B. Grant presiding. There were also present: Messrs. W. Hall, W. C. Sampson, T. Smellie, Blackball, S. Topliss, J. A. Kurth, A. B. Leech, A. Cole, E. C. Stanley, F. Dodunski, A. Turnbull, A. J Luxton, J. B. Groom, H. Stonex, and A. T. Moore. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE’S A report was submitted from the executive committee as follows:—The chairman reported that the dairy produce graders had been met and the dairy produce schedule had been gone through. The National Dairy Association notified that the Viking Rennet Co. had decided to again offer a special prize of £lO. It was resolved to thank the association. The Railway Department notified that the approximate cost of extending the Smart Road loading bank was £5O, and asked whether the society would be prepared to bear half the cost of the extension. It was resolved to write to the District Traffic Manager pointing out that the society was not in a position to pay half the cost; also that a copy of the correspondence be handed to the M.P. for the district with a request that he endeavor to have the application granted without any cost to the society. It was recommended that the New Plymouth Citizens’ Band be asked to quote a price for playing at the Autumn ShoO on People’s Day. The sub-committee set up to enquire into the advisability of carrying on with the field root acreage competition report. recommended that the various seeds merchants in the district be approached with a view to ascertaining whether they are prepared to donate prizes, and that the resolution for the sub-committee be not dealt with until the reeds merchants have been approached. Messrs. Grant and Sampson were asked to wait on/ the seeds merchants. The chairman' stated that they had interviewed the majority of the seed merchants who had promised to assist. The report of the executive committee was adopted. GENERAL. The Taranaki Education Board notified that the children of North Taranaki had been granted a holiday to enable them to attend the show on People’s Day. Mr. T. W. Lonsdale, manager of the Moumahaki experimental farm, notified that he would endeavor to make an exhibition of pedigree Ayrshire cattle. Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister of Agriculture) in acknowledging receipt of the committee’s invitation to be present at the fifth coming show, stated that he was unable to say whether it would be possible to accept the invitation. He would, however, notify the committee definitely later on. It was resolved to forward a letter of appreciation to Messrs. Govett, Quilliam, and Hutchens in recognition of their drafting, free of charge, the deeds in connection with the Rewa Rewa rifle range. The following were elected new membens:—Messrs. C. W. Frank (Barrett Road). J. B. Groom (801 l Bieck), J. Martin (Fitzroy), E Allen (Waitara), E. 11. Weston (Lepperton).
