THE RAND STRIKE.
A SERIOUS SITUATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Feb. 13, 11.5 p.m. Capetown, Feb. 12. The “direct actionists” are intimidating the Rand miners, and the outlook is growing uglier. The position is most confused. While the general executive of the Miners Union and the leaders of the Labor Federation disapprove of the Langlaagto trouble as a breach of the agreement with the Chamber of Mines, the extremists forced the general executive of the Miners’ Union into taking a ballot, which is now proceeding, for or against a general strike in support of the Langlaagto men. In the meantime, a meeting of the executives of the uniops affiliated to the Labor Federation resolved that in view of the serious position of the mining industry that the terns offered by the Chamber of Mines to the miners’ demands be accepted—Aus.£.Z.
