DEATH OF A BABY.

EVIDENCE OF A CRIME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Feb. 12. Evidence of a crime was revealed in an inquest held into the circumstances of the death of an infant whose body was found on the foreshore at Thorndon. Dr. C. M. Hector, who made the postmortem examination, stated that the body was that of a newly-born male child. He found the skull had been fractured and the scalp much bruised. There was no doubt that the child was born alive, and the marks on the head were probably the result of blows inflicted while the child was alive. The Coroner decided to adjourn tha inquest to enable further evidence to be produced.
