Mr. Dunn has announced that he is making an immediate payment of one shilling per bushel to farmers in connection with the 1919-20 wheat pool and. 3d per busbol ou the 1918-18 pool. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Feb. 10. Wheat.—Good inquiry for Australian parcels. A fair quantity has been released. Flour.—Quiet demand and slow sale, despite the reduced prices; 76s per bag ex store is asked for Australian, due at the end of the month. Oats.—Firm, La Platas on spot 33s to 345. Barley.—Slow sale, Australian Chevalier 75s to 80s. Beans and peas quiet at laf-e rates. Sugar unchanged. At the Government wool sales in Liverpool 21,000 bales were offered. There was good demand. Americans were buying and there were few withdrawals. Best Merinos were unchanged from the London closing rates, faulty declined 5 to 10 per cent, crossbreds 10 per cent, Bradford wool very quiet. 64’s quality is quoted at 52d, 56’s at 31d and 40’s fit 19d. TALLOW SALES. London, Feb. 9. The tallow market is weak and there is small business. Quotations are largely normal. Mutton, fine 445, medium 40s; beef, 48s and 38s. Potatoes.—Tasmanian, £9 to £11; Victorian, £9. Onions.—Victorian, £7 to £8 10s. Adelaide, Feb. 10. Oats, 2s 3d, Melbourne, Feb. 11. Hides.—Sales have been resumed. The markets were firm for picked stouts. Heavies to Id lower; kips lower. 4s to 4s 3d; Cape 3s to 3s 3d. Oats.—'2s 6d to 2s Bd. Potatoes.— £4 10s to £5 ss. Onions.—£6 10s.

BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. GOOD DEMAND FOR FATS. Dunedin, Feb. 8. As is usual on an off day, the supply of fat stock at Burnside to-day was on the small side. There was a good demand for all classes offered, and every department showed an increase in values. Fat Cattle.—A small yarding of medium quality, numbering 1000 head. No extra heavy-weight cattle were sent forward. The small supply caused a buoyant sale for those offered, and in consequence prices were from 25s to 30s a head in advance of the rates which ruled last week. Prime bullocks realised from £lB to £22 10s; medium, £l5 15s to £l7 10s; lighter kinds, from £l3 10s upwards. Very few good heifers were penned. Prime heifers realised from £l5 to £l7 10s; medium, £l2 10s to £l4; light and aged, from £8 10s upwards. Store Cattle.—A medium yarding. Very few good sorts were sent forward. The market was lifeless, there being a very poor demand. Fat Sheep.—A small yarding of medium quality, a total of 1104 head being offered for sale. Owing to the small number sent forward competition was brisk and there was an advance on all good sheep of from Is l 6d to 2s a head above last week’s rates. Extra prime heavy-weight wethers realised up to 545; prime, 34s to 425; medium, 27s 6d to 31s; light and unfinished sorts, from 22s 6d upwards. Primo ewes realised from 29s to 33s 9d; medium, 25s to 28s; light and aged, from 17s 6d upwards. Lambs.— A good yarding, numbering 715 head of fair quality. The demand was keen at an advance of Is per head over last week's Values ranged from 21s 9d to 35s per head. Pigs.—A small yarding, consisting mostly of porkers. Competition was slack, but prices were a shade in advance of last week’s rates. Best baconers realised up to £6 16s, and best porkers up to £3 14s per head.

ADDINGTON MARKET. Christchurch, Feb. 9. At tl:e Addington market to-day there was a large attendance of buyers. Stofe Sheep.—'Over 20,000 were penned, mostly lambs. Prices were about on a level with last week’s rates. Forward lambs, 20s Gd to 255; fairly forward lambs, 18s 6d to 20s; medium lambs, 17s to lss 3d; inferior and small lambs, 13s to 16s 6d; owe lambs, 7s Gd to 12s 6d; good four and six-tooth wethers, 22s to 265; lower conditioned 4 and 6-tooth tooth wethers, 19s 3d to 21s Id; two-tooth wethers, 16s to 19s 6d; two-tooth ewes, 22s 6d to 23s Gd; aged ewes, 12s 6d to 17s. Fat Lambs.— A slight falling off in number yarded, prices showing a slight firming tendency. Freezing works buyers obtained a, good propprtion .of the entry. Extra prime" lambs, 34s 6d to 35s Id; prime lambs, 30s 3d to 33s Gd; medium lambs, 27s to 30s 3d; lighter lambs, 23s to 26s Gd. Fat Sheep.—'Six races came forward, compared with seven last week. The quality was of an average description. Owing to the small entry, competition was brisk, prices rising 2s to 4s Gd, at which figures freezing buyers could not operate. Extra prime wethers, 38s 9d to 42s Gd: prime wethers, 34s 6d to 37s 6d;‘ mediufi wethers, 30s to 345; light and unfinished wethers, 24s to 29s 6d; extra prime ewes, 36s 6d; prime ewes, 31s to 355; medium ewes, 29s Gd to 30s Gd; light and unfinished ewes, 22s Gd to 28s 9d. Fat Cattle—A yarding of 260 head of good to prime quality, which sold at prices slightly firmer than last week’s rates. Extra prime steers, £24 10s to £26 15s; prime steers, £2l to £24; medium steers, £l5 to- £2O; light and unfinished steers, £lO to £l4 10s; prime cows, £l2 15s to £l4 15s; medium cows, £lO to £l2 10s; light and unfinished cows, £6 10s to £9 15s; prime heifers, £l3; ordinary heifers, £9 to £l2 7s 6d. Vealers.—Runners, to £4 12s 6d; medium calves, £2 7s 6d to £3 ss; small and inferior calves, £2. Store Cattle.— Three-year-old bullocks, £9 to £9 12s Gd : 2 and 2^-year steers, £7 15s t0 _ £8 ss >’ 18-month steers, £4 17s 6d to £5 2s Gd; 12-month mixed sexes, £1 15s to £3 ss; medium store cows, £4; good young sorts, £5 to £6 10s.
