CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A meeting of the Council of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday, Mr. E. P. Webster presiding. The half-holiday question was discussed by the meeting, Mr. P. E. Stainton reporting that preparations were well forward in the direction of petitioning the Borough Council to take a poll on the question in April, to give burgesses an opportunity of voting on the Saturday and Thursday issues. Matters in connection with the proposed time-table alterations were under review, and it was decided to again communicate with the department in order that the question should not be lost sight of. The following were elected members of the Chamber: Messrs. E. May, J. R. Hill, and W. F. Short.
