THE’ ENGINE-DRIVERS’ DISPUTE. SETTLEMENT REACHED. By Telegraph Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. For some considerable time negotiations have been going on between ' the General Manager of Railways (Mr. R. W. McVilly) and delegates appointed by the. Locomotive Engine-drivers’, Firemen and Cleaners.’ Association. The secretary of the association (Mr. W. Me Ar ley) stated to-day that a basis of agreement on all questions in dispute —wages, a 44-hour week, and conditions of labor—had been arrived at. This agreewienet now only requires ratification by the grand councillors of the association before being finally settled. To-day the executive of the association discussed with the General Manager 'the whole question of punishments for breaches of regulations,.
