NEW PLYMOUTH SEASON. FOURTH DAY’S PROGRAMMES. The Chautauqua tent was well crowded at both afternoon and evening sessions at New Plymouth yesterday, when the Overseas entertainers, a party of talented lady artists, proved the amusement. The personnel of the party consisted of Miss Ferguson, who plays both cornet and piano and also sings; Miss Christianson, violinist; Miss Gernaud, who plays the ’cello; Miss Erickson, pianist, and the possessor of a pleasing contralto voice; and Miss Truett, a gifted elocutionist and a player of several instruments. The evening entertainment opened with a lively concerted number entitled the Marche Militaire, followed by Cavatino (Roll). Miss Erickson's numbers, which were well received, included “Come Out Witli The Fairies,” “My Love’s Like a Red, Red Rose,” and “Sort of Miss You”; while, in conjunction with Miss Ferguson, she rendered a sprightly little song, “Sleigh Bells ” The cornet solos bv Miss Ferguson were the best of the musical items and earned many rounds oi applause. Miss Christianson was heartily applauded for her violinl solos, as was also Miss Gernaud for 1 her cello solos, especially the “Gavotte” (Popper) with an excellent imitation of the bagpines Miss Truet't’s principal contributions were “A Tom Show,” this being a description of a class of American theatrical company which confine themselves to the production of Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” Kipling’s “On the Rond to Mandalay” and “Spooks. The first mentioned produced roars of laughter and Miss Truett had to return a second and third time in response to persistent recalls. The concerted selections.
