SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS.

PUBLICATION OF RESULTS. DELAY OBJECTED TO. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A report has been received by the Minister of Education regarding the publication of the results of matriculation and teachers’ exams. It was represented to the Minister by the education boards recently that the late publication of these results caused considerable inconvenience to candidates and school governing bodies. The report states that the matriculation examination is controlled by the University Senate, and the matter will be discussed when the department is conferring with the University authorities on other examination matters. The examination is held in the first week in November, and there seems to be no reason why the results should not be known earlier than is the case. The teachers’ examinations are held in the third week in January, and the results; are announced towards the end of February. It is not thought that the work can be done any quicker, but a proposal is to be discussed by the inspectors’ conference to hold the examinations during the .September term holidays. This would enable all the results to be published before Christmas.
