SIX MILLION LOAN.
FULL AMOUNT NOT OBTAINED. COMPULSION TO BE APPLIED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Information concerning the position of the £6,000,000 loan was sought from the Prime Minister by a reporter today. “I cannot give you details,” said Mr. Massey, “but this I will say, that there is no reason to be dissatisfied with what has taken place. We 'have now got in all that can be collected voluntarily, and something additional will be the result of the application of compulsion.” Will the unsatisfactory financial conditions obtaining influence the Government in the matter of applying compulsory clauses ? “Well,” replied Mr. Massey, “certain promises have been made l to the soldierfc, and these promises must be kept, but so far as I can see there will be little hardship in connection with this matter, though of course there may be some.”
