TARANAKI’S PRODUCE.
LARGE SHIPMENTS THIS MONTH. MEAT, BUTTER, AND CHEESE. Considerable quantities of dairy produce and frozen meat, representing hundreds of thousands of pounds in value, will be shipped away from Taranaki this month. The quota to be lifted by the Kumara, now completing loading at New Plymouth, comprises 5000 freight carcases of frozen mutton (new season’s) and 1900 carcases of boneless beef from £he Taranaki Farmers’ Meat Company, and 23,000 boxes of butter and 7000 crates of cheese from the Taranaki Producers* works at Moturoa. In addition to this a considerable quantity of meat has been railed in from Messrs. Borthwick and Co.’s Waitara works, the list of cargo being: 1460 freight of boneless beef, 1080 freight carcases of veal, 1120 freight carcases of mutton, 1700 freight carcases of beef, 2500 freight carcases of lamb, 200 freight carcases of sundries, and 560 cases of preserved meats. • Other primary products included in the Kumara’s shipment are 120 bales of wool, 333 casks' of tallow, and 200 sacks of hides. Another allotment of meat will be shipped by the Zea land ic, which loads at Waitara about the 15th inst. The vessel takes 6500 freight carcases from the Taranaki Farmers’ works, and a similar quantity from Messrs. Borthwick and Co.
Large butter apd cheese shipments will be made by coastal vessels for transhipment,at Wellington. For space allotted on the Hororata the Corinna, which is due at New Plymouth to-day or to-morrow, will load for transhipment at Wellington 20,000 boxes of butter and 4000 crates of cheese. Later, this vessel will lift 23,000 boxes of butter and 12,000 crates of cheese to be transferred to the Zealandic at Wellington about February 23’.
