CRIME IN AUCKLAND.
TWO MURDER CHARGES. TRUE BILLS RETURNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Feb. 7. At the Supreme Court criminal sessions Mt. Justice Stringer said the calendar was fairly extensive and involved two grave cases. A son was charged with having murdered his mother and a father was charged with having murdered his son. In the first case he said it would be best for the jury to return a true bill to allow the facts to come out in court. The case of Needham, who is alleged to Have killed .tys son at Maungaturoto vas even more distressing. The jury vvould have no difficulty in finding n true bill. In addition to the indictment of murder there ought also to be an alternative one for manslaughter, but his Honor suggested u true bill on the greater charge should be broughtAuckland, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, Joseph Rowlands, alias Harris, was sentenced to three months’ hard labor for the theft of a bicycle. James Northey, fos an indecent assault on a girl of seven, was sentenced to two years’ gaol. The Grand Jury returned true bills against Frederick spearpoint, alleged murder of his mother, and against 'Thomas Needham, alleged murder of his son.
