Very great interest centred round the christening at the Guard’s Chapel. Wellington, Barracks, on November 9th, of the month-old daughter of Captain A. G. T. Rhodes, Grenadier Guards, and the Hon. Mrs. Rhodes. It was in this richly ornate building in Birdcage Walk —decorated with frescoes in memory of the Guards who fell in South Africa.— that their marriage took place a few years ago, and this fact added considerably to the interest of last week’s ceremony. Prince of Wales was delighted to include in his list of godchildren this little Now Zealand infant, and the present which he gave to his new god-daughter was a beautiful gold brooch in the design of the Prince of Wales’ feathens, in diamonds. The Prince was unable to be present in person, but he was represented by Lord Claude N Hamilton Lord Plunket (brother of Mrs. Rhodes) was proxy for Major T. T 3 .Eastwood., D. 5.0., M.C., who was not able to be there. The godmothers were the lion. Moira Plunket and Miss Phyllis Boyle. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. D. F. Carey, D. 5.0.. chaplain to the Brigade of Guards, and the child was given the names MauEthna David.
