MANUFACTURE OF PAPER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Perth, Feb. 4. Successful experiments were made also with Victorian mountain ash and Westrajja karri. COMMENT ON RESIGNATION. Brisbane, Feb. 4. Mr. Theodore, commenting on Mr. Wallace’s resignation, stated that the latter knew the salary before accepting the position. It was increased £25, but he was told there would be no further increase. PAY OF WATERSIDERS. Melbourne, Feb. 4. Shipowners have acceded to the request by the Waterside Workers’ Federation for a further conference respecting the new log. The owners previously offered 25s a day; the men rejected this, but are now reconsidering it. THE BLOWFLY PEST. Sydney, Feb. 4. Reports from the sheep districts show that the blowfly pest this year is spread over a wider area than previously, and is found much further north.
