LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Invercargill, Feb. 3. A motor-eyclisf named J. O’Halloran, U laborer, and single, collided with a train at the level crossing, sustaining severe injuries to his head and body. He was operated on at the hospital, and |iis condition is critical. A SEAAIAN’S SUICIDE. Wellington, Feb. 3. During the inquest into the death of Harry Magnusson, who was found drowned, an official of the seamen’s union stated that deceased had been refused as an alien a license to work on a vessel for which he had been engaged and had been very dejected since. The police said the statement opened I up a black page in deceased’s history i which they had wished to avoid disclos- | ing. It would be necessary to call evi- ; dence as to why the license was refused, i Cabinet had fully investigated the matter and had endorsed the refusal of the j license owing to the man’s previous conduct. The inquiry was adjourned until tomorrow to enable evidence to be called.
