TRIAL BEFORE A JURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The hearing of the charge against William Vivian Whitta, under the Gaming Act Amendment Act of 1920, of having carried on the business of a bookmaker in Christchurch, was continued in the Magistrate’s Court today, before Mr. McCarthy, S.M. Whitta pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, bail being allowed in his own recognisance of £5OO.
