Advices from Japan indicate that relations between the Vladivostock ‘ Government and Japan are more strained with a danger of hositlities between the Russians and Japanese. It is said that Japan intends to postpone consideration of the resumption of trade with Russia or the withdrawal of troops from Siberia until the Russians accept the Japanese demands and furnish guarantees ensuring the adequate protection of Japanese interests A concentration of Russian regular troops is occurring at Khabarovsk, while Japan is reported to be throwing up defences at Nikolaievsk.—Aus.-N.Z.
