THE PRICE OF TEA.

ADVANCE IN CEYLON. An advance of 5d per pound in the price of good medium tea such as is consumed in New Zealand has takqri place in Ceylon during the last two'weeks, owing to heavy London buying. The Indian tea crop will shortly be finished, and, with the exception of small quantities from Java, all the tea to meet the world’s demands must be supplied by Ceylon. The quality in Ceylon is now reported to be good, with supplies on the short side, and this state of the market wil] probably continue for several months owing tb the world short* age of fresh good quality teas.
