EXPORT OF PORK.

EMBARGO TO BE LIFTED. STEPS NOW BEING TAKEN. (From Our Otfn Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. The disabilities under which farmers who went in extensively for fattening pigs are suffering, owing to the low price at present being paid, were brought under the notice of Mr. R. Masters, M.P., at a meeting of farmers held at the Skinner Road creamery thia morn* ing. Subsequently Mr. Masters wired to the chairman of the Board of Trade, and also to the Prime Minister, stating that the farmers of the district requested him to urge that the embargo on the export of pork be lifted, and pointing out that buyers were offering only 5d per lb. and limiting the quantity purchased, owing to having insufficient storage for more, there being every possibility of the price becoming lower. The farmers felt that they deserved more consideration, as they were urged to go in for pigs, and had purchased store pigs on the basis of the high price which was operating at that time, and as a result they were now meeting with heavy losses. To this telegram the chairman of the Board of Trade replied to the effect that the matter was receiving consideration. Late to-night Mr. Masters received a telegram from Mr. Massey stating that steps were being taken to removfe the restrictions on the export of pork, anc permit a free market.
