SLIGHT INCREASE OF INTEREST. ANSWER TO NEW PLYMOUTH. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Massey has written to the Mayor of New Plymouth informing him that Cabinet has agreed to allow loan money required by the borough for hydroelectric extension to be raised at 5i per cent, instead of 5y 3 . Thg rate of interest may be arranged by selling 5| per cent, bonds at discount. The Mayor has received a communication from the Premier on these lines. This does not meet the Borough Council’s requirements, it being considered that at least 6 pei cent, was necessary.
