SUBMARINE WARFARE.

ECHO IN PRIZE COURT. EXPLOITS OF RESERVISTS. London, Jan. 12. Echoes of the war were heard in the Prize Court to-day, when sums were awarded to three of His Majesty’s ships manned by naval reservists for sinking German submarines. Dramatic tales of retribution were unfolded. H.M.S. Buttercup was circling the torpedoed steamer Agbers, near Berney Island, in December, 1917', when the ship dropped depth charges, forcing the submarine to the surface, when the “P” ship rammed her. The Buttercup completed the destruct on by firiru; her 4iu. guns point-blank. There no survivors. The drifter Garrigal, while cruising in the Straits of Otranto in July, 1916, dropped depth charges on a submarine caught in another drifter’s net. Both tried to tow the submarine, but the net broke. Escaping oil showed that the submarine was destroyed. There were again no survivors. Altogether 94 Germans perished.
