DE VALERA’S PROPOSALS. RIGHT TO DECIDE OWN FATE. Paris, Jan. 27. The newspaper Oeuvre says that what Scotland Yard and the United Kingdom police were unable to do the editor has achieved in a personal interview with De Valera in France. De Valera stated that if Britain recognised the Irish people’s right to dispose of its own fate the difficulties of the Crown and Ulster would disappear. If the Ulsterites demanded autonomy in the Irish State Sinn Fein was willing to grant it. De Valera said that what Mr. Lloyd George told the Press regarding peace offers to Sinn Fein mattered little. What Lloyd George said to-day he would without concern contradict tomorrow if it suited his policy Dail Eirann was ready to examine any peace proposals which did not oppose its man-date.—Aus.-N.Z.
