ALIENS ON SHIPS.

FAILURE TO BE LICENSED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Magistrate’s Court, Elephantes Anthanasios, a Greek, and Charles Olsen, a Swede„ were charged that being unlicensed aliens they signed on a ship’s articles. The masters of the two small coastal vessels were charged with wrongfully employing the men. The defence was that the men were quite ignorant of their obligations. They had_ signed on at the shipping office, where no questions were asked. The magistrate convicted the defendants and ordered them to pay costs, remarking that at a shipping officq there should be some notification of the obligations of aliens.
