“A MISTAKE TO STOP.”

AMERICA AND DISARMAMENT. NAVY SECRETARY’S VIEWS. By Telegraph —Press Assn —Copyright. Received Jan. 27, 11.30 p.m. Washington, .Jan. 26. Mr. J. Daniels (Secretary to the Navy), discussing Senator Borah’s suggestion to suspend the United States naval building programme for six months, declared it would be a fatal mistake to stop work for six months on the great battle-cruisers now under construction for the American Navy. Mr. Daniels also deprecated any suggestion that capital ships would! be abandoned in favor of submarines, aircraft, or other types of fighting craft. He added that America should continue with the building of battle-cruisers, since she had none of this type in com-mission.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
