TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. THIRD DAY’S PLAy. The Taranaki bowling tournament, was continued yesterday on the New Plymouth, Fitzroy, and West End greens. Beautiful weather prevailed and all the greens played well, some fine games being witnessed. After the previous day’s play there were six rinks with unbeaten records, but yesterday saw a considerable alteration, and at the conclusion of the sixth round only J. D. Sole (West End), Section C, and Price (Fitzroy), Section E, are so far undefeated. In A Section H. Smart succumbed easily to Mason (Pihama). The loser’s rink was somewhat disorganised owing to Moore, playing second, retiring sick. In Section B, Billing was defeated by A. K. Smart. In Section F, McNeill was defeated both morning and afternoon. Hoy, with one loss, is leading. In Section‘g, Higgs went down in the afternoon to Luscombe. In Section D, both Ford and W. H. Fookes sustained a second defeat, whilst Des Forges (Opunake), and the diggers’ team skipped by A. Humphries, won both their matches, and are now level with the leaders. There promises to be a considerable number left in wlign the section play-off commences. Detailed results: —

TO-DAY’S PLAY. This morning the final round of the section play will be decided, play commencing at 8.45, and not at 9.15 as previously notified. Sections A and D will meet at -Fitzroy, Sections B, E, and F at West End, and Sections C and G at New Plymouth. In the afternoon two rounds of the section ties will be decided.

VISITING BOWLERS ENTERTAINED The visiting bowlers were entertained by the local bowlers at a smoke concert in the Kawaroa Park bungalow last night, when a most enjoyable time was spent. There was an attendance of over 150. Mr. J. D. Sole, president of the Taranaki Centre, presided, and among those at the official tablp were Messrs Day (Gore) and A. K. Smart (New Plymouth), members of the Dominion Council, and several membess at th® Taranaki Centre executive. A number of toasts were enthusiastically honored, among them being “The King”; “The Dominion Bowling Association,” proposed by Mr. Foy (Hawera) and responded to by Messrs. Day and A. K. Smart; "The Visitors,” proposed by the chairman and responded to by Mr. H. Christie (Wanganui); "Taranaki Bowling Centre, w proposed by Mr. Day and responded to by the president; "The Ladies,” and “The Press ” A feature of the evening was the excellent musical programme, every item being encored. Solos were contributed by Dr. Crawford, Messrs W P. Obey, Northe, McDonald; duets, by Messrs McDonald and Okey, Northe and Hooßer; and quartettes, by Messrs. Hooker, Northe, Okey and McDonald. Mr. J. Lovell gave some comic items, whilst Mr. K. Morey played a pianoforte solo and accompanied aP. the singer;?.
