THE FEDERAL PREMIER.
WHO WILL FILL HIS POST? By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Jan. 26, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 25. The Morning Post's Sydney correspondent cables that it is believed Senator E. D. Millen is hastening his return in order to urge his claims on the Act-ing-Premiership of Australia. It is alleged Mr. Millen did not perform the duties for which he proceeded to London, and it is rumored Mr. W- A. Watt (ex-Federal Treasurer, who owing to a disagreement with Mr. W. M Hughes, the Premier) and Mr. Hughes are nearing reconciliation, in which case Mr. Hughes may leave Mr. Watt in charge of the post, which Mr. Millen believed himself entitled to.
Mr. Millen, when shown the cable, made the following reply to the Australian Press Association: "The statement that I am hastening back of my own volition is entirely incorrect. Equally incorrect is the statement that the purpose for which I am hastening my return is to urge my claims on the acting-leadership during Mr. Hughes’ absence. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn
