GOODS “DUMPED” IN BRITAIN. London, Nov. 26. The price-cutting campaign of German manufacturers, in their efforts to regain the British market, is becoming more and more serious. Industries established to meet national needs during the war are in danger of being (crushed out of existence. Other works of long standing are also feeling the pinch of unfair competition. Consignments of German scientific glassware are arriving here in ever-increas-ing quantities, and are being offered at prices to the retailer considerably below what it cosits to produce the articles here. Goods from Germany cover a wide range, and include war stores. Evidence has come to hand of the application of false descriptions, and even of the forging of names, with the object of deceiving the British purchaser. Lately thousands of dozens of German leather goods were sold by auction in London, at prices less than the cost of production here. A lot of purses realised 90s a gross: the wages alone in making the same article in the United Kingdom would be 60s to 72s a gross.
