Advices from Leghorn - state that as the result of the victory of the Moderates, the Socialist Congress proceeded to another meeting place in order to form a Communist Party, constituting the Italian section of the Third Internationale. A WOMAN DOCTOR’S FAST London, Jan. 23. A Polish woman. Dr. Lipinska, completed a thirty days* fast without water at a sanatorium in England. She continued her unbroken fast with a little water for the next ten days. This she relinquished as she was- terribly cold and her heart was irregular. She recovered, feeding slightly and cautiously for the first few days. THE YELLOW PERIL QUESTION. London, Jan. 23. Foster Fraser, in an article on the yellow peril, discusses the question of the uninhabited north of Australia. He asked if any of us have the right, while not developing the tropical regions, Australia, Canada and America, ourselves, to prevent others doing so, and concludes: “It is quite on the cards that the white races will act together in order to resist what they regard as a grave menace from Asiatics.” BOLSHEVIK MOVEMENTS. Delhi, Jan. 23. Persian reports state that the Bolsheviks have evacuated Resht and are preparing to evacuate Enzelis. FIGHTING TYPHUS Geneva, Jan. 23. Despite the efforts of the health services typhus is still ravaging Eastern Europe. There are three or four thousand cases in the region of Grodno, Tida and Molkovyez. The influx of Russian and Ukranian refugees into Galicia is complicating the ‘task of the medical staff, many of whom have succumbed during the epidemic.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
