Society faddists have made it a common sight to see a poodle, pomcranian, or bull dog riding luxuriously in an auto, but it was left to Leo Sylvester, a perwith the St. Leon’s Circus, to educate this country to the novelty of seeing a canine comfortably esconsed on horseback. The collie used by Sylvester does not rest content with just riding a horse, but goes the absolute limit to beat the circus acrobat at his own game. From his earliest infancy, the dog has, been in the hands of his present owner, and is daily learning new trick,s. Lasi week, at Taihape, a patron visiting the circus brought a woolly chance-bred hound, who insisted upon standing upon his hind legs, and conducting a box-on with the ticket taker Collie was an ardent spectator, and concluded his nerformance that evening by emulating hiv new friend by landing a ku k-out or» Sylvester’s chin, to the delight of au enthusiastic audience
