CRICKET.
AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOUR. _ , DISCUSSION IN ENGLAND Received Jan. 23, 5.5 p.tfu By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 22. The probable strength of the Australians in the forthcoming cricket tour has apparently upset calculations in some quarters. \ Warner regrets that the programme does not include morq matches against representative English teams, but Latham points out that he gave the authorities at Lords first choice, and only asked for one date outside the test and Middlesex matches, though later he sought for a second match against the Gentlemen. Warner recommends counties to enlarge their grounds if possible, in view of the probable enormous interest in the tour.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn. London, Jan. 20. Mr. Warner writes: “The matches against Australia in England have not been well arranged; there are too many fixtures against too many weak counties. If the wickets are sticky Australia will have the hardest job to retain the ashes. On soft wickets Rhodes and Woolley will dispose of an/ side under 100 runs. Gregory and Mad ley are firstclass bowlers. The former impressed me greatly in 1919. Otherwise the Australian bowling is not of the strongest.”— Au’S.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
