UNIVERSITY SENATE.
REQUEST FOR A COMMISSION By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 21. At the University Senate, Professor H. W. Seagar and Dr. E. Robertson ■Were elected the Senate’s representatives on the Board of Governors of the Auckland Grammar School. It was decided that a candidate who Bias presented himself for honors in any subject may present himself for honors in any other subject, provided that- all examinations be taken within Bix years after matriculation. It was fclso resolved that a candidate for honors who began hjs course before the penate passed the clause requiring that Candidates must sit for honors not more than six years after the date of his matriculation and should be allowed io sit for honors under the conditions Jaid down in the old statute, namely that examinations for honors must be taken in the year following that in g:h the candidate completed the exaation for a pass degree. This ession is not to be granted to cantes who take the honors examina)ion later than 1923. Recommendations of the 'Board of Studies as to a proposed diploma in social science and as to the institution bf a degree of Doctor of Philosophy Were referred to the Arts and Commerce Committee. Notice of motion was given by ProfesBof Rankine Brown: “that the Senate Would welcome the appointment of a Royal Commission on the University knd University Colleges of New Zealand headed by some eminent educationist from the United Kingdom, and Jhat a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Minister of Education.”
