SIGNS OF CHRIST’S CQAIING: THE CHURCH SIGN.

A NEW Bible Commentary has just been published which the British Press, secular and religious, has loudly sung the praises of, but regarding which the Rev. Graham Scroggie says, “But though it may sound like the voice of one crying in the wilderness. 1 affirm that the work is sodden with infidelity, and would warn especially young Christians to have nothing to do with it.” We wonder how many of the Wellington clergy believe in the rubbishy “JEDPQ” theories concerning the Old and New Testaments? Most mon give very little heed to the Bible during the lyears of their prosperity, but let the /hand of affliction touch them and it is iremarkable how all go to the Book of Books. It was not till Sir Walter Scott was dying that he made clear his faith in the Word of God. and the same may be said regarding Darwin and a host of others. Consequently it is that the startling things now taking place in the world are arousing many to see that a crisis is imminent. Awa-rchy. revolution, strikes, wars, and fighting betoken that all is not well with the nations. The words of Scripture are being called to mind, “Nation shall rise against nation,” “there shall be a time of trouble as never was.” Nevertheless we fear for the vast majority the' Coming of Christ will be the greatest surprise the world hase ever received, although the testimony regarding it has been borne for nearly 2000 years. Our Lord said He would come as a “thief in the night.” But God is very merciful, and we believe He has permitted us to raise this testimony, and by His grace we hope to send out these messages so that none in the community shall be able to say they were not warned. Arrangements are being made for the Second Advent Con. ference in the ‘Concert Chamber, Town Hall Wellington, from the 17th to the 27th February, and amongst those who have promised to speak are the Revs. W. Lamb, of Sydney, author of “Great Future Events,” and Joseph W. Kemp, of Auckland, late Pastor of the Aletropolitan Tabernacle, New York. We know that our platform has a message of far greater certainty as to results than anything Sir Conan Doyle had to tell. The lectures will be of an educational character, delivered by those who have made a special study of future events as foretold in Scripture. We are living in momentous days on the verge of a world crisis, which will terminate in '/ Come and hear.
