Wellington, Last Night The Railway Department is still conaidering the demands of the Wellington district firemen, coupled with their strike notice taking effect from midnight on Sunday. Representatives of the Department and firemen met in conference this afternoon to discuss the points at issue. Mr. Massey (Minister of Railways), interviewed late to-night, said he had as yet no statement to make on the matter. The general manager, also approached at a late hour, said the matter is still under consideration. Mr. McArley, the union secretary, who is back in Wellington to-day, also told a pressman that he had no statement to make.
