DUNEDIN WOOL SALE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Jan. 20. Ttye wool sale which commenced yesterday afternoon is considered satisfactory. At 11.30 p.m., when the sale stopped for the day, about 75 per cent, of the offerings, totalling 9805 bales, had been disposed of. Merinos were in disappointing condition, except for a few super, and the price compared with Christchurch was lower. There was a good demand for half-breds, but for thinhaired wools there was not a keen demand. A feature of the sale was a demand for showy crossbred lots. Pieces sold well. The following prices were realised for pieces: Super 8d to 12d, medium to good 5Jd to 7%d, inferior 3d to 4y 2 d, bellies 7jd to 9d, medium to good 5d to 7d, inferior 3d to 4Jd; locks, halfbred 3d to 4d, crossbred Nd to 3d. > The wool sale was continued this morning, the offering consisting of star lots only. There was a dragging sale and many buyers were absent. The opinioil was expressed in wool circles that the offering of large quantities in the present state of the market was not justifiable and the offering should be limited to quantities buyers were likely to lift, say five or six thousand bales.
