The monthly meeting of the Stratford School Committed was held last night. Present: Messrs. J. W. Boon (chairman), W. Pinhey, D. M. Clarke? E. G. Foster, W. McDonald, G. Smart, F. J. McDonald and Mrs. Hollands. The visiting committee for the month were requested to report on the supply of wood and coal for the winter season. Preliminary arrangements were made for the annual school excursion, which is to be held on February 1.3, and it was decided to ask the Retailers’ Association to have the shops closed on the day of the picnic. GENERAL. The winner of this year’s Bayly Memorial Scholarship is A. J. Thomas, a pupil of the Stratford School. Thomas, who received 442 points in the educational division and 107% points in the athletic division, is a sbn of the assistant master at the Stratford School and brother of last year’s winner. Second place was filled by H. E. Bellringer (419 educational, 07% athletic). These were the only two out of the 23 competitors who qualified in the two divisions, it being necessary for competitors to gain a certain number of marks in each division in order to be eligible for the scholarship. In the present competition the boy who gained highest marks in the educational division failed altogether to score in the athletic division.
