Time, Imin 15sec. ROTORUA CUP.—Woody Glen 1, Starland 2, Jtockfield 3. Scratched: Esthonia, Tinopai, Prince Charleroi. Won by half a length, two lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 6 2)ssec. WAIMANGU HANDICAP. Dead Sweet 1, Tinokaha and Oak Abbey dead heat 2. Scratched: Golden Bubble, Infante, Regent, Bang, Lady Lilac, Thora. i Won by a neck. Time, 1 2 l-ssec. The Derby winner, Duo, has been nominated for the Sydpey Gold Cup. An exchange states that after racing at the Taranaki meetings Gloaming will go to ’Stralia. Tommy Rot is touched in the wind, but every time he gets out in a five furlongs race he is very hard to catch. Wellington papers prefer 80-Peep for the Anniversary Handicap, but the office boy is putting his five bob on Pente, and the writer is a bit with him. Punters wijl be right up against it when they come to tackle the Ruapehu Handicap to-day, but the winner may come frpm Automoana, Militaire and Strategy. Down in Wellington they will have nothing but Statuette in the Telegraph Handicap, but she will have to do something above the average to stall off Warplane in the last furlong. Gray’s horsemanship counts for a lot around turns, but in a straight six he will have little on a vigorous horseman like George Clarke. Rational is engaged in the Wellington Stakes. That is all.
