London, Jan. 17. A large body of men attacked a poAce station in the centre of Cork City early on Monday morning. Rifle and revolver fire continued for half-an-hour. When reinforcements arrived in armored cars and lorries they found that the attackers had departed. TO MEET THE PRESENT THREAT. London, Jan. 17., De Valera, writing to the Lord Mayor of Dublin in support of a proposal to form an Irish White relieve suffering in the reprisals areas, compares Ireland's present situation to the time when conscription threatened her.
