DOMINION’S TRADE.
SPECIAL ENGLISH PORT PROPOSED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright London, Jan. 15. The Mayor of Portsmouth headed a deputation to the High Commissioners, with a view to enlisting the financial aid of the overseas dominions in developing Longstone into a port entirely devoted to the dominion’s trade. It was stated that of the proposed £4,000,000 to £5,000,000 the Dominion’s contribution would not be heavy. The High Commissioners are submitting the scheme to their Governments. — Aus.-N.Z.
